ADHS Conference, Paris 2026
Lucy Cogan and Fionnula Simpson attended the Alcohol and Drugs Historical Society (ADHS) conference in Paris, June 25th-27th. Cogan presented the paper ‘Good British Ale or Bad Irish Whiskey: Ulster Labouring Class Poets and the 1798 Rebellion.’ On the same panel, Simpson delivered a talk entitled ‘“Between the demons of love and the bottle:” Alcohol and Abduction in Nineteenth-Century Irish Fiction.’
